“When I was in the Navy, I didn’t have a clue what I would do when I got out. I started Beyond the Uniform to help military Veterans approach their career transition with confidence.”

Justin is the Founder & Host of Beyond the Uniform. Previously, he founded StoryBox, a venture-backed marketing technology company used by over 35 Fortune 500 companies. He has also worked as a Consultant at McKinsey & Company and as an Officer in the Navy onboard submarines (USS Alaska SSB 732 & USS Chicago SSN 721).

Justin holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy. He lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife, son, and dog.


Steve Bane

Steve is a program manager in the Aerospace/Defense industry.  Prior to transitioning in 2016, Steve spent 9 years as an Army Aviation Officer and CH-47D/F Chinook helicopter pilot, serving in various leadership positions in South Korea, Alaska, Afghanistan and Alabama.  Steve holds a History degree from the University of Scranton and an MBA from Syracuse University.

Kathleen enlisted in the Coast Guard in 2010 after graduating from Tulane University. She served for two years as a search and rescue boat crew member at Station Fire Island in Babylon, NY. She was then assigned to the Coast Guard’s First District headquarters in Boston, MA where she served as an enlisted aide to the First District Commander. She was commissioned in May 2014 and was then assigned to the Atlantic Strike Team as a Response Officer, leading teams during responses to natural disasters, oil spills, and national security events. Kathleen separated from the Coast Guard in August 2017 and is currently pursuing her MBA at New York University.

Rick Healey
SPECIAL PROJECTS

 
 

Rick is an active duty U.S. Navy instructor pilot currently stationed in Corpus Christi, TX. He holds engineering degrees from the U.S. Naval Academy and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After earning his wings of gold as a U.S. Navy Pilot, Rick served four years as a P-3C Patrol Plane Commander and Mission Commander, including deployments to Europe, Africa, and East Asia.

He enjoys cooking and spending time with his wife and young daughter, and can recite several Paw Patrol episodes from memory.

Janell Hanf

Janell is an active duty US Marine Logistics Officer currently stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. Previously she served tours of duty in Twentynine Palms, Afghanistan, and Camp Lejeune. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Arabic from the US Naval Academy and a Master of Systems Analysis from Naval Postgraduate School. She is also a military spouse of an active duty Infantry Officer. Janell enjoys writing, reading, long walks or runs on the beach, and going to baseball games with her family.

Michael is a former tee ball champion who now makes a living typing keys and arranging pixels on a screen for a variety of corporate overlords. He takes his bourbon neat and plays his bass upright.
